Present perfect and progressive verbs? A course for KS2 teachers exploring grammar in the new National curriculum for English.

For those of us who were not taught formal grammar at school ourselves, terms like ‘past participle’ can cause confusion and uncertainty.  Even those who have a good grasp of grammar can often find it difficult to teach grammar in a meaningful way so that it makes sense to all our young writers. ‘Off the shelf’ text books and abstract exercises do not give the children the ‘conscious control and choice’ they need to become independent and successful writers.

This course aims to support NQTs, those recently qualified or experienced teachers who need some new ideas to teach grammar effectively.

During the day delegates will have the opportunity to;

understand up-to-date research on how best to teach grammar

explore the progression within grammar objectives

recognise how to provide real-life contexts for grammatical skills

learn how to investigate grammar in Shared and Guided reading

become familiar with exciting new books to support grammar teaching and reading for pleasure

Cost: £110 per delegate
