During the day we will explore the mastery approach to learning and how the principles can be applied to word reading and reading comprehension. The day will be suitable for class teachers wishing to develop mastery teaching in their classrooms or subject leaders and senior teachers wishing to develop the approach across their school.
Teachers attending the day will;
- understand mastery models and approaches;
- learn practical strategies for developing mastery in word reading and reading comprehension;
- discover simple ways to use a mastery approach to narrow the attainment gap in reading and provide challenge for all;
- consider approaches to recording, giving feedback and assessing greater depth in reading.
All teachers will leave the day with a toolkit of resources to use in their classroom.
