Leading teachers in the ECaW programme

Leading teachers are central to the work of ECaW.

LTs coach and model effective practice in quality first teaching and guided writing, as they work in collaboration with colleagues to develop key skills in the effective teaching of writing.  Support is offered on a personal level, and the focus of this will vary according to individual starting points and current approaches to writing.  Shared and guided writing are central to the success and support of ECaW, with teachers planning, co-delivering and reviewing guided approaches. This is based on effective assessment and shaped through the use of the pupil writing targets and Support for Writing materials.

The LTs are provided with support materials to guide their time spent in school. The time line below describes key activities across the year and the focus of each activity.
